20 Band Audio Spectrum Analyzer
I received most of the parts for the spectrum analyzer and also the boards, this means i should be ready to ship them to you in a few days, but the holidays are knocking on the door, and i cant work on Christmas eve
. Probably the first packages will be shipped on 3-4 January 2009. I hope you’re not upset by all these delays, it’s difficult to maintain a schedule when parts are coming from lots of different countries.
here are some pictures:

They look damn good! I’m still after one in kit form so when you have all the parts let me know. Very cool.
Thanks

The plates are very beautiful you can send me the two plates and pic programmed?
December 19th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
As would be to send to me in Brazil?
December 20th, 2008 at 2:14 am
Reginaldo, the analyzer is my own design, and it based on ATmega64 not PIC, but, sure i can send just the boards and the ATmega programmed and soldered onto them if that’s what you want.

How much will be the kit?

Will bigger displays be able to be used on this project?
For instance, if I wanted to make a display big enough to mount on my wall, and wanted the segments to be lit up as 5 LEDs instead of one, would this be possible?
Cheers.
December 27th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
Callum that is possible only with an additional board that will support the current needed to drive more LED’s. The standard configuration cannot support that amount of current per channel.
I can design something custom, but it will cost you more because of manufacturing costs that are higher for one piece.

How and where do I place an order for this kit? Can I use Blue LED’s with this design? I know the forward voltage is higher being at ~3.00v.
December 29th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
Greg, orders will be taken by email and I will start shipping on 5′th of January. You can use blue LED’s but I haven’t been able to find any blue bargraph LEDs, so far just green, yellow and red. I know blue looks nice, and i will do some research maybe I can come up with a solution, but until than, green and red is the only color available for buying.

You wouldn’t by chance have made the design in Eagle CAD? If so, could you provide the schematic and hex code or would that be asking too much?
July 15th, 2009 at 11:32 am
Hi Scott,
The design was not made in Eagle and the files are not released. Sorry.

Not a problem. I found what I was looking for.
July 16th, 2009 at 11:23 pm
Cool, what exactly were you looking for?

Oh, okay

is this project still active?? is there a higher power drive available? im looking to make a large wall-sized version for an animated christmas display and need to have a driver to drive higher power LED grid… or can this board be made to output directly to my own transistor drivers..
does this firmware do logarithmic peak and hold?
January 5th, 2010 at 10:46 am
Hi christopher,
The project is still active, but the answer to your other questions is no.
January 5th, 2010 at 3:26 pm
what would it take for this to be ported to my application? and I dare say lots in the computerized christmas community might find this project of interest
January 5th, 2010 at 3:58 pm
A custom driver board would need to be developed with some high power transistors, maybe mosfets. When talking about custom designs the prices goes up rapidly because the cost of the prototype and the parts + shipping is not divided by a number of multiple kits, it’s just added to the custom design.
If you’re still interested by getting a custom driver board, I can do it, and we can discuss more by email.(contact page)

this project is not open-source but you can get a kit if you like from the shop : http://www.youritronics.com/shop/

If purchased in the assembled form is it ready to hook up to stereo or are other items need.
February 5th, 2010 at 9:01 am
Yes Ron, it’s ready to use
February 19th, 2010 at 1:28 pm
Salut Florin!
As dori sa aflu si eu sursa de unde achizitionezi kit-ul acestui analizor, sau macar sa-mi dai schema, daca ai putea. Daca nu macar cat ajunge(pretul) sa primesc unul in P. Neamt.
Astept un raspus, multumesc anticipat!
