October 8th, 2007 7 segment big LED display
Coolcircuit presents us a project, based on the PIC16F876A microcontroller. It uses 14 5mm super bright LED’s on each segment. The result is a 6 inch high 7 segment digit display. The circuit can be cascade-connected to form up to an 8-digit display. You can use it as big 7-segment display, big digital clock, digital timer etc.
For full specs and details go to Coolcircuit’s web page.

I wonder how much power it requires?

you can calculate that based on the number of LED that stay on most of the time and their current. But i think this kind of display its best to be used with a transformer powered from 230V, this way you can supply the power needed.

I have 2 questions.
1. Does circuit remember data after power loss;
2. Is there schematic of some kind of control board over PC817 input?
Thanks

Where can the pcb file be obtained?..In a gerber format

Steve, the author doesn’t provide Gerber files, only schematic, You’re gonna have to design the circuit yourself in one of the many design software out there and generate the gerber files yourself.

Thanks for your reply..I am only a hobbyist and have no idea on how to create Gerber files..
So if anyone has done this i would be happy to pay for the file because i wanted to built a score board and timer for my sons junior soccer.. club..
