May 12th, 2008 AVR Butterfly GPS System
The handy Butterfly GPS is a cost-effective system that presents location, date, and time data on its LCD. The system features an ATmega169 and a highly sensitive GPS receiver engine board based on the SiRF chipset. Its amazing what you can do with such a low cost development board.

javar, it’s gonna be hard to put together such a project if you don’t know stuff about microcontrollers and avr’s. First you should read some ebooks on programming the AVR.
good luck

hi florin
for programmming this ATMEGA169 BUTTERFLY module, is it necessary to sepcific type of Kits or any one will work for programming it?

javar, I don’t know the details for the project because I’m not the author of it, but i can tell you this: the AVR Butterfly dev kit is based on a ATmega169 MCU it has nothing PIC related on the board.
And the butterfly needs to be connected to the pc for programming than it works on its own.

belal what kit are you referring to ? the butterfly can be programmed trough a simple serial cable, or trough a more advanced programmer like MKII, or with any other AVR programmer.
