March 26th, 2008 Hosting company changed

You may of noticed that the blog was beginning to show loading problems more often, so i decided to change the hosting company. The blog was previously hosted at Servage. I was truly disappointed by their services, i mean the customers support was good and fast, but their clustered hosting, was causing too many problems. Now the blog is hosted at hostgator and i hope everything will work just fine. The propagation of the new DNS takes some time until completed, so you might of noticed the site wasn’t loading. I apologise for this and hope it never happens again.

March 19th, 2008 Really cool robots

I thought it will be nice to write an article containing some of the coolest robots out-there with movies on each one.

The firstone will be the BidDog Robotic Mule:

Built by Boston Dynamics, the BigDog is a four-legged robotic mule that can carry over 340-pounds (original version 88-pounds). As you’ll see in the video, it’s very sturdy and can withstand a kick to the body without falling over. Continue reading to watch.

The second one is the RHex Robot which is also created by the same people as the BidDog:

RHex is a man-portable robot with extraordinary rough terrain mobility. RHex climbs over rock fields, mud, sand, vegetation, railroad tracks, telephone poles and up steep slopes and stairways. RHex has a sealed body, making it fully operational in wet weather, in muddy and swampy conditions, and it can swim on the surface or dive underwater. RHex’s remarkable terrain capabilities have been validated in independent testing at US Government Labs.

The third one is the Snake Robot:

The robot snake doesn’t need much explanations, its a robot built to move like a snake

The forth one I’m not sure if I’m correct in calling it a Robot, because the Spider Robot its more like a machine, it can carry you wherever you want:

The fifth one is the Fish Robot:

A robotic fish developed by scientists from Essex University is put through its paces in a special tank at the London Aquarium. It works via sensors and has autonomous navigational control.

As you can see there are some great robot designs out there.
