In other words, is there support for the temp sensor on the RTA board... can the two be combined together...?

I can think of a real use for a Spectrum Analyzer with temp sensing capacity...!!!

Thanks in advance

Hi John,
the TMP275 Digital Temperature Sensor was not designed to interface in any way with the Spectrum Analyzer. It's just a digital sensor that you can interface to your favourite micro or board, like AVR, PIC, Arduino.
What application do you have in mind ?

Ok so I guess I'll be waiting until the end of August to see the new version... Which is fine because I just got done waiting for Starcraft2 for months... lol. In the meantime I was wondering where else I might be able to find even LARGER versions of the LED. I was hoping to find one around a foot long and a half foot tall. Thanks forum

I don't think you'll be able to find that anywhere. It has to be custom made. Some customers requested that also so I'll try to come up with a solution with this new version. Something like an expansion board with leads to individual bigger LED's.

Sorry you have to wait, but its product development, it takes time.

Thanks for the speedy response Florin. Do I need to check back periodically or are you planning on notifying those of us who are waiting for the release?

I suggest you register in the online shop www.youritronics.com/shop/ because I will release a newsletter there when the new kits are ready.

Ok I signed up for the newsletter...
I have soldered like twice in my life. Given that I have the required tool(s) and solder type, would you consider this device too advanced for a novice? And if not will the cost of the materials and such exceed the cost difference between unassembled and assembled? Note: I plan on buying at least 2 when you release them. Thanks Florin

The important question is, have you soldered SMD parts before ? if not I would not recommend getting the unassembled version of V2 because the parts are small and the result will probably be unreliable. As for V3 I'm using even smaller parts so I would only recommend it to someone who has experience with soldering SMD parts like 0805 resistors.

As for the price it really depends if you already have the materials or if you have to purchase them. A spool of solder, a flux pen and a fine soldering tip would probably get the price higher than the assembled one costs.

And there is the looks factor, only someone really experienced with soldering SMD parts could make this kit look nice, soldered by hand. It's really difficult to achieve the perfect looks of a board soldered in a reflow oven.

Now, its up to you.

Yup its the safest thing to get them assembled. It will probably be a good idea to give a discount to the 100th order processed in the online shop, but we still have to process some until we get there :)

Ok the specs indicate that the matrix board is 9.13 inches wide by 3.14" tall. Can you tell me the dimensions of the actual led display? Also, I will be ordering 2 of them, assembled. I would like to get dibs on them incase you're not releasing a large quantity. And lastly I would like to look into making a LARGE led display in the future, could a 20 band display from another source be made to be compatible with your motherboard?
Dude, I really can't wait to get my hands on these bad boys... I'm counting the days.
