yes I've seen that before, the expansion board will not help you with such a project.
You need to convert the 20 levels of each vertical axis from the spectrum analyzer to 20 voltage levels so that when all 20 levels are on (20 high bits) you will have your max voltage (example 12V).

The spectrum analyzer wasn't build with this in mind so you will have allot of work to do. Unfortunately I don't have the time to help you with your project but if you are a student you should be able to get help from your professors.

Can we use this with AV receiver I have Onkyo SR 707 AV receiver and really wanted to have this display Please confirm if this is possible

Ideally what I am looking for is a display with 8 bars and each bar represents one Chanel up to a maximum of 7.1 surround channels
Is this possible or is there is any thing that can do this.

You could build 8 VU circuits, or 4 of the same but stereo. A simple 3914 or 3915 circuit would do good for this, and be very inexpensive. The total cost of the LEDs would cost more than the total of everything else.

I dunno why you'd want to monitor speaker outputs. They have quite a load on them. You're going to need to monitor some line-level signal somewhere.

Its not that I want to monitor speaker output ,all I am looking for is a 8 channel audio spectrum analyzer that shows
dancing leds for each channel do you know how this can be done and hooked up to an AV receiver like Onkyo Sr707

And you can only monitor speaker output unless you are running 7.1 channels of analog input to the AVR. I am going to assume you are giving it a digital signal, because it's 2011. I did notice that receiver does have RCA outputs for each channel. But to monitor each channel will not be something this kit can do. You could mix all the channels, but I'm sure you want to monitor each. A VU circuit would be just fine, since you want a bar per channel. Just look out there for VU circuits. You could build 8 of them for cheap. ICs like the 3914 and 3915 let you stack them up so you can have bar heights in multiples of 10.
