This is a real DIY project, hack your old alarm clock, connect it to the Arduino board, write some Phyton script to access your Google calendar and download the data to the Arduino. This will result in a versatile alarm clock, which the author named Larmie.
The alarm clock uses the LM8560 , if your clock has other IC then you must adapt the project, otherwise with the step by step explication it is easy to replicate the Larmie. You can use any calendar software, but I think the Google calendar is the best choice, because you can set your alarm remotely.
The downside of this device is that you need to run your PC all the time, it would be nice to use the Ethernet shield with TCP/IP stack and access directly from Arduino the calendar. Also it would be great if beside the plain 7 segment display some LCD display would show the reason why you should wake up at 6am.

This is a project you don’t see every day. Could it be more practical and more cooler than it is ? probably not. I mean I want it, i know you will too. I think they should mass produce these things. Now for those of you who don’t get the ideea, this is a cube with a light inside, you hook it to your computer and when there is new mail the cube lights up green.
If you don’t happen to have a glowing cube lying around, you can modify this to work with almost any output device you could think of, from a simple LED, or a buzzer, to something far more clever like moving a servo. The interface between the cube and your computer its done via an Arduino board. The Arduino talks with your computer over a serial connection, which runs over the normal USB cable you use to communicate with your Arduino. This is quite simple to do, and fully documented on project page so follow the links if you decide to build this project.

James Watt has created one of the most interesting piece of robotics i’ve seen. I came across this robotic insect, when i was google`ing for something in robotics. Its part sculpture art and part robot. The dragonfly its powered by several solar cells and a pager motor, all this tied together with some simple electronic parts. And the dragonfly robot its not the only piece design by James Watt, visit its page and you will find more amazing projects.
Since you liked my first post about the gOS and the green pc, i’m goint to add a fresh set of screenshots so you can see better how the gOS looks. It sure got my eye. Just click on the pictures to see full size.
Notice: This gOS screenshots were gathered from the web, so they belong to their original copyright owners.
You think that’s enough? No… here is more gOS screenshots.
And if you think this is enough, dont worry i’ve got more gOS screenshots 🙂 …
Yes and even more gOS screenshots
I got these pictures from a chineese website. They say that these pictures represent screenshots from google os which i find kind of hard to believe. First of all Google is a big company and i think they don’t alow information leeks like this one. If they want to show us pictures or screenshots of the Google OS i am sure we will be hearing this from them, and not from some chinese website. And second, the pictures don’t look good at all, i dont think that Google will make such a bad looking OS. I am sure Google OS will look better than this, and i cant wait for it to be released. Here is the gOS screenshots below, tell me what you think about them
If you would like to see more gOS screenshots you should check the gOS screenshot’s article.
